But the fun of dressing up just goes away if you’re plagued by dry and chapped lips. However, you need not worry. There are many natural remedies that can easily tackle this problem. Out of the myriad natural remedies for chapped lips, we have selected nine that you can make easily with the material available in your household. Here are they:

Vaseline and honey

Vaseline and honey

Honey has antibacterial properties and amazing healing powers. Vaseline too is used to nourish and soften the skin. A mixture of the two is a very good remedy for dry lips. First, apply a layer of honey on your lips and then apply Vaseline over that. Leave this for 10-15 minutes and rub it off with a damp cloth or tissue. Do this every day for a week to get positive results.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil is an easy and effective remedy. Apply some coconut oil on your lips before sleeping at night and do this until your lips are healed. If you want some fragrance, add essential oil drops like lavender or tea tree oil drops into coconut oil. Coconut oil also prevents infections, especially if cracks have developed on your lips.

Rub some Aloe Vera juice (make a slight tear on the leaf to extract the juice) on your lips and see how it improves the chapped lips in a matter of days. Aloe Vera’s natural ingredients strengthen the protective layer of the lips giving a cool soothing effect. Moreover, it also removes the dead skin cells on your lips.

Green tea

Green tea

According to various researchers, green tea helps you to lose weight. It can heal chapped lips too. All you need is a green tea bag and some hot water. Dip the tea bag in water, and then leave it for some time. After that, take out the green tea bag and apply it to your lips for four to five minutes. Do this once a day for a week. The tannin and antioxidant in green tea will heal the dehydrated and dry skin of your lips.

Rose petals

Soak 5-6 rose petals in 1/4th cup milk for about 2-3 hours. After the required amount of time has elapsed, mash the rose petals gently into the milk to form a paste. Then apply this to your lips and leave it for approximately 20 minutes. Then rinse it with cold water. If you repeat this daily for about a week, you will notice a marked difference.

Rose petals contain Vitamin-E, which is quite nourishing for the lips. The petals help to keep your lip’s natural color and the milk exfoliates dead, dry skin.

Glycerine

Glycerine is another extremely simple DIY remedy. You just have to apply a few drops of glycerine to your lips at bedtime. In the morning, you will find your lips have improved to a great extent. Doing this every day will prevent dry and chapped lips.

Sugar, olive oil, and honey
